Condensation can wreak havoc on your HVAC systems, causing damage to chilled ceilings and other critical installations. With Siemens QXA Series Condensation Monitors, you can safeguard your HVAC investments effectively. These monitors are designed to detect and prevent condensation issues, ensuring your systems operate smoothly.

Key Features:

  • Damage Prevention: The QXA Series Condensation Monitors are your first line of defense against potential damage caused by condensation. By detecting rising humidity levels, they trigger preventive measures.

  • Flexible Switching: These monitors are equipped with an SPDT dry contact capable of switching 1 amp at 24 Vac or 0.5 amp at 24 Vdc. The switching point is set at approximately 95% relative humidity (rh) with a 5% rh switching differential.

  • Versatile Installation: Hardware is included for installation on pipes with outside diameters ranging from 10 to 100 mm (0.39 to 3.94 inches). The QXA2101 model even features a remote sensing element for hard-to-reach spaces.

Equipment Combinations:

The QXA Series Condensation Monitors are compatible with 24V AC/DC control circuits and can be wired as normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) to provide advance warning of impending condensation issues.

Typical Applications:

These monitors work by sensing relative humidity near the pipe's surface. When the relative humidity approaches the dew point, the SPDT relay changes state. The reset happens automatically when the relative humidity decreases to approximately 5% rh below the switching point.

In chilled ceiling applications, the monitors are wired in line with the 24V power supply to the chilled water valve actuator. As the relative humidity nears the dew point, the contact opens, interrupting power to the valve actuator. Proper operation requires a power-to-open valve actuator with spring return.

The QXA Series devices can also be deployed to prevent condensation on pipes and various HVAC system surfaces.
